A Soul Retrieval for a Woman Who Could Not Establish Lasting Love Relationships
Before I begin, I select the reason for my journey and my intent. I am journeying for another person ( I will call her Karen) and would like to retrieve for Karen those aspects and parts of her soul which are the most important for her to have returned this day and those aspects and parts of her soul without which she has been unable to form satisfying relationships.
I have purified the room with sage. I ask Karen to sit quietly during my journey, with her eyes closed, remaining as passive as possible, observing the images and thoughts which go through her mind. I announce aloud my purpose and take in my hand the quartz crystal that accompanies me on my journeys. I close my eyes and feel the slight spinning and dizziness that frequently accompanies the onset of the Shamanic trance for me and in an instant I am standing upright in nonordinary reality. My horse appears, ready to carry me to find Karen's missing soul parts. When I have climbed onto his back, my horse takes off through space. I realize that we are going backward in time. When we arrive at our destination, I see two people who appear to be teenagers and are very much in love. I ask the girl if she is Karen's soul and she confirms that she is. I ask her soul if she would be willing to return to Karen in the present - that Karen really needs her. The soul flatly refuses, saying that she is very happy where she is and has no intention of going anywhere. I explain to her that Karen has been unable to form satisfying relationships and this part of her soul is an integral part of Karen's being able to live a happy life. When I have finished this communication, I begin to understand. I see a scene (like a movie) with Karen telling her fiance that she is going to go to the peace corps. I understand that Karen has made a choice - a choice between career and love - and by making that choice she has left this part of herself behind. I explain to her soul that Karen now values love very much and has been unable to find true satisfying love because this part of herself has been missing. The soul is still reluctant to return so I appeal to her sense of appropriateness and that innate yearning for wholeness that seems to indwell the soul parts. Finally the soul agrees to return to Karen and I lead her into the crystal which functions as a comfortable waiting room for the souls and a transport between ordinary reality and nonordinary reality. I ask if there are any other soul parts that are important to be returned at this time, and once again I am traveling in nonordinary reality to retrieve the soul parts. When I have completed the gathering I return, with the soul parts in the crystal. I greet Karen and, placing the crystal over her heart, I blow the soul parts into her heart and seal them in. Then placing the crystal at the base of her head in the back, I blow the soul parts in - one time for each soul part that has returned. Then I look into Karen's eyes and tell her "Welcome Back" for each soul part that has returned.
Karen then began to cry. One of the incredible parts of soul retrieval is the tremendous emotion that accompanies the return of soul parts. She told me that she was filled with a sense of joy that she had not felt in a long long time. And she told me that the emptiness was gone.
